Workforce Development

We made huge strides in our workforce development efforts in 2016 and the New Year will bring even more progress as we move forward with new initiatives, programs and partnerships. And with the establishment of the Construction Industry Sector Council and Aaron’s recent appointment to the Governors Workforce Development Board, we are beginning to make inroads at the State level.

As our work at the State level grows, we will continue to work closely with local school districts across the state. School career days continue to be our main vehicle for reaching students in Middle and High School. Please consider joining us at any upcoming school Career Days this winter and spring, we would love to have you! Giving students the opportunity to talk to those in the industry is a great way to provide them with real-world information about our industry. We will provide upcoming dates every month so if you would like to join us, just let us know! On our schedule so far:

Thursday, January 19 8-10 a.m. Carson High School
Thursday, February 16 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. North Valleys H.S., Reno
Tuesday, March 14 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Reno High School

And because it’s never too early to get kids thinking about careers in the construction industry, we have partnered with Workforce Innovations in Las Vegas to produce these great posters and activity book.

As always, if you have workforce needs, questions about or efforts or want to participate in any of our programs, please do not hesitate to contact Pam Duxbury, outreach@nevadabuilders.org or call (775) 882-4353.
