Nevada Builders Alliance to host workforce event in Winnemucca
Winnemucca, Nev. – Nevada Builders Alliance (NBA), in collaboration with the Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority (NNRDA), will hold a workforce round table on Wednesday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at the Winnemucca Inn. This event is intended to engage current and potential stakeholders to discuss and review the impacts to Winnemucca and Humboldt county as a result of the major industrial growth in the area. “As a statewide association, our number one priority is to engage all communities in Nevada and ensure that they are heard and represented, particularly in times of growth,” said Aaron West, CEO of Nevada Builders Alliance. “Our state has seen a massive increase in the demand for construction; however, we haven’t prioritized the development a workforce that can meet these needs so this round table hopes to start that conversation in some of our rural counties.”
The workshop will provide actionable items on necessary tasks such as engagement and training within the K-12 system, leveraging the capabilities of Great Basin College, provide recruitment opportunities, both regionally and nationally, identify potential capacity issues, and define needed retail and services for expansion.
Currently, Nevada Builders is the largest construction industry association in the state with more than 800 members representing all facets of the construction industry and was the first to offer an association health plan for its members. NBA is also focused on providing opportunities to young adults looking for career paths in construction. The organization is led by CEO Aaron West, who also serves on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board.
