“Workforce Development” is turning into quite a buzzword these days but to all of us here at Nevada Builders Alliance, it is more than that. We are actually walking the walk. Over the past several months, we have been reaching out to local organizations, builders’ groups and educators to learn what resources are already in place in the area of workforce development. We have also been spending time in schools delivering the message that not only is construction cool, but it is a realistic, attainable and viable career choice here in Nevada.
And we are ready to take the next step. As members of Nevada Builders Alliance, we need this information to help you! Specifically, we would like to know the following about you and your company:
-Over the next 2-5 years, what positions do you need and how many?
-What skills, experience and educational do you look for when hiring?
-Would you be willing to offer internships or apprenticeships?
-Would you be interested in attending job fairs, career days or recruiting events?
We will use this information to guide us as we work to create our workforce development plan and spread the word throughout our community. So please take a moment and reply to us with this and any additional input you wish to share.
